• Scientists from 15 European countries are presenting their latest developments in the field of antimicrobial coatings for use in public buildings at Sofia Tech Park. The meeting took place on 27-28.02.2025 and was part of the project "STOP - Surface transfer of Pathogens", funded under the Horizon Europe program. Assoc. Prof. Tatyana Kutsarova, Director of the Institute of Electronics, greeted the participants in the meeting. The project leader from the Bulgarian side is Assoc. Prof. Albena Daskalova, presented key moments from the history of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the activities of the Femtosecond Optics Laboratory.

• 23.10.2024-The possibilities for training students in the field of laser technologies were discussed by scientists from the Institute of Electronics and Deputy Minister of Education and Science Tanya Mikhailova. The discussions took place during demonstrations of a new generation of lasers to students from the National Vocational High School of Precision Engineering and Optics "M. V. Lomonosov". The team of the "Femtosecond Optics" laboratory gave demonstrations to eleventh graders. The results of the "STOP" Surface Transfer of Pathogens project, funded under the Horizon Europe program, were also presented.

• At the meeting of the Scientific Council of IE BAS on 19.01.2023/Protocol No. 1, the proposal of the lab was selected for the best scientific and applied achievement of the Institute of Electronics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for 2022. • 07.06.2023, at a ceremonial meeting on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of Electronics, an award was presented for the best scientific and applied achievement for 2022, with a team from IE-BAS: head Assoc. Prof. Albena Daskalova and team, Asst. Liliya Angelova, PhD and PhD students Emil Filipov and Dante Acheti.

• Antibacterial surfaces with application in the restoration of damaged bone tissue are being developed by scientists from the Institute of Electronics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.The study used lasers with ultrashort pulses, which increase the antibacterial properties of ceramic and polymer materials compatible with human tissue. Assoc. Prof. Albena Daskalova, head of the Femtosecond Optics Laboratory at the Institute of Electronics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, talks about the method, applications and the team of young scientists.
